Our Philosophy
For the past 150 years, the standard dental restoration has been the amalgam (silver) filling. These metal filling materials contain a mix of silver, mercury, and other metals, and are placed directly into your tooth. A large volume of research suggests that these fillings weaken the remaining tooth structure, and may result in cracked or broken teeth that may then require costlier treatment such as root canals, onlays, or crowns.
At the core of modern dental practice is Adhesive Dentistry, which means that most restorations (fillings, crowns, etc.) can now be bonded to your tooth. These bonded restorations provide several distinct advantages for you.
- A stronger tooth: Many studies show that bonded composite or porcelain restorations can re-strengthen a previously weakened tooth. This means there is less chance that your tooth may fracture in the future.
- A more natural appearance: Today’s materials are tooth-colored and mimic natural tooth color, allowing us to place virtually invisible restorations.
- A more conservative approach: Because adhesive restorations bond to your tooth so strongly, it enables us to repair many teeth with less removal of healthy tooth structure. This ability to preserve more of your healthy tooth provides many benefits to you.
- Less sensitivity: Bonded restorations seal the entire tooth, resulting in less post-operative sensitivity.
We believe that adhesive dentistry allows our patients to choose the high-quality treatment they deserve. Bonded restorations strengthen teeth, save tooth structure, and are beautiful!
